My name is Catherine Levin and I am a communications consultant specialising in the fire and rescue service.
I have worked in the fire sector in the UK since 2003. I spent many years as a UK policy civil servant focused on fire policy around resilience and fire safety. I also spent a few years at the London Fire Brigade where I was Deputy Head of Community Safety. After this I lived in New York City for a couple of years and spent time with various US fire departments, getting some useful US perspective.
It’s this experience that gives me my insight into the fire and rescue service and has helped me develop my consultancy work.
I write a lot for trade journals, notably FIRE, Emergency Services Times and Policing Insight. I work with the National Operational Guidance Programme, the London Fire Brigade and other fire and rescue services, where I help with communications planning, getting messages out and making the most of social media.
